Needing A Home

Pooh is a miniature Poodle mix.  He is very black and weighs about 15 pounds. He is probably less then a year old but should not get any bigger.  He was a stray taken in by someone who already has many dogs.  For more information on Pooh, contact Leah at   dragonup2@yahoo.com

Lucy's owner died before Christmas.  Lucy is staying alone in the home, but someone comes by daily and feeds and walks her. She is about 85 lbs...4 years old...spayed...heartworm neg & UTD. Lucy is  half boxer and may be hound.  She has a dog door and likes to spend her day in a chair in front of the window from which she can guard her home.  Lucy is a great dog.  She loves to ride in the car and could be an excellent companion for someone.  She's a bit defensive with strange dogs--so she probably will be happiest in a home alone or with a smaller male.  She's especially bright--learns quickly and seems to enjoy obedience work.  If you would like to adopt this precious dog, please contact Linda at linross7@comcast.net

The dogs below have been ADOPTED

ADOPTED:  Koda's new owner picked him up and all is going well.  Great new beginning for Koda!

His story:
Koda has been a great family companion since rescued from Animal Control and sure death in June 2009.  Sadly he is now in need of a new home.  He is social, very playful and happy.  He is learning basic commands and walks nicely on leash.  He is housebroke and will go to the door and bark. If he is ignored, he will go get something that does not belong to him or stare at you when he needs out.  He is fine with other dogs and cats, however he is protective of his food with them.  He will gobble up food dropped on the floor and is protective over it.   He is very gentle when given edible treats by hand.   People or children can take non-food items from his mouth, just not food.  He loves to 'fetch' and will bring you a ball or bone to throw for him and he brings it back to be thrown again.  He enjoys any interaction with people.  He is good with children, but still being a puppy can knock them over or accidently scratch them.   He is reluctant to get into a car, but once in, he will lay down and be very good.  He is past the chew things up stage, but does think dirty socks on the floor and a few childrens' toys are there just for his amusement.  He is neutered and current on shots and preventatives.

2/12/10:  ADOPTED.  Satchel went to his new home today.  Love at first sight for both of them.
His story: The neighbors' Anatolian Shepherd had 10 pups.  One turned up missing right after they were weaned.  Somehow, at just 7 weeks of age, he managed to find his way to these people.  True to the breed, Satchel was independent and self confident, but without the confines of a secure fence and no livestock to watch over, he began to wander.  He is social and loves people, but is protective and has actually averted some break-ins at the home.  He has done really well with children who are over 5 years of age.  Outside only is OK, but he would probably adapt to an inside/outside situation.   He is 20 months old and 105 pounds.  Stands about 32 -33" at the shoulders.  Anatolian Shepherd/ Great Pyrenees mix.  Neutered and UTD on shots and preventatives.

2/12/10: ADOPTED.  Curly went to his new owner yesterday.  A local lady who has already gotten him groomed.  Curly will get to be an inside companion.  We are very happy for Curly.
His story: Curly is a big teddy bear.  His favorite thing is going for rides.  He will hope right in the car and lay down in the back seat.   He is very social and will greet people with a 'smile'.  Literally curling up his lip and showing teeth, just like a human would do.  He knows basic commands and is polite.  He is very good for the groomer and also loves brushed.   He is ok with other dogs.  He loves to be pampered with dog bones & treats.  He enjoys the neighbor children.  He is use to being an outside dog, but would certainly adjust to being an inside couch potato.  He would climb in your lap if you let him.  He has been with the family most of his life.  He is approximately 7 years old. He is 80 lbs, has been neutered, has all his shots up to date as of Feb. 5   Curly is Standard Poodle / Lab mix
